Fame and Fortune

No, I'm not talking about fame for rank equipment. This is about being famous in Perfect World.

Most Online Games have its own elite class of players, those persons who are well known on their server or on the whole game. Perfect World is not exempted. We tend to have our own 'famous' people on our respective servers. There are several kinds of 'famous' people, and we shall be discussing each of them.

Item Famous

Yes, all players want to have the best item in the game, but it just won't happen. Only a few elite and a few hard working players may have the chance to obtain those 'Elite' items. For example, not everyone will reach Rank 8 in Perfect World, heck, rank 6 maybe even be too hard for most players. Think of Rank 8 and SFX comes to mind. He's the first to Rank 8 non-GM player in Philippines.

Another example, players tend to get famous with the items they have. Imagine having four-slot armors with level 8 stones on a new born server? Ever heard of al`Lan? I thought so.

Fashion addicts are also included in this group. Players that have all kinds of fashion clothes in all colors are usually well known on their servers.

World Chat famous

Everyone knows the world chat, the entertainment it brings when those 'famous' people starts waging their war using megaphones. People who use the World Chat often tends to be famous, or maybe infamous on the server. Everyone in the server can read what you want to say. Of course, it comes with price, a whooping 100 gold per shout. These people are the source of Level Up!'s income (Lol). Most of these people are conceived as 'rich kids' since they spend a lot of money just for chatting. Imagine, you can PM someone just to say 'Good Morning', but these people recklessly pay P5 per shout for a simple hello. Some go as far as spelling the word 'hello' letter by letter. Maybe not the smartest way to spend their money, but it's their choice.

Power Famous

These Group are the Game 'Elites'. They may not have the best weapon nor the best armor. They rarely shout on world chat. But their presence alone sends shivers to some players' spine. They are well known for what they can do in the game. They can either be the Best cata holders in the game, best clanmasters, first to reach level 105, or the best PK players roaming around the cities of Perfect World.

Their actions speaks for them.

The Infamous

This group is what everyone hates. Some people do become famous for the 'evil' things they do (hint: scamming). Some high level players risks being suspended just to fulfill their will. Other notable 'infamous' people are those aggro-lurers, ie, Elite Purple Dragon brought on Few Wei town. Destroys your day, but fulfills his or hers.

Fame and Fortune doesn't always go hand in hand. Nevertheless in this game, being rich or having the fortune to spend can most of the time mean being famous. Some spend as much as 200k php, some spend nothing at all. No matter who are the famous people in your server, remember each of us are famous in our own way. Within our own circle of friends.

Hi there fellow PW citizens, here we are in the 2nd part of our Unorthodox Fist article.

Las Week, we discussed on how a Fist Yumang could be built. Now we have a deadly assassin in our arsenal, how do we use it.?
Ok, remember that we are built with heavy armor, so start levelling on physical types of monsters and try not to go against pure magic types. You may swap your heavy armors for some light one to compensate to your lack of MDEF. You decide on how you fit your armor, just a reminder, always think of what possible siuations you could be in.

So really, how do we kill monsters. Easy, get close and start whacking. Pure, plain and simple. If you were once a RO player, you'll soon feel like an Assassin. Bladed Fists have high dex requirement, so your Crit rate and hit rate goes up too. Make sure to have your dex on increments of 20's, not including armor bonuses (unless you have a set of armor that you'll use permanently).

At early levels, you'll probably experience some difficulties. HP Potions will be your friend here. You may bring a few SP Pots, or maybe forget about them at all.

How about in TW? What do we do?

I think Fist Yumang could be a very good bait againts Wuxia's and YaShous. They'd probably try to get close to you and think you'll run. But whala! Start hitting them with your fist. With a high evasion, WX and YS will have a hard time killing you. And if they try to run, you may switch to a bow (if you bring one) and punch holes through their bodies.

You may want to take out other Yumangs. Remember, their damage is halved once you are close, except for those darn lightning skills. Other classes like Fashihs, Yao Jings and Yu ling could inflict you huge damages whether you're near or far. Your only hope is to strike them from behind and hope they succumb before they could even think of running.

Use your wing skills if the need arises. They deal good damage and has a very fast cooldown. You can spam those skills, but make sure to drink a few SP pots because these wing skills are nasty MP drainers.

So there you go, something new, something fresh. This build is not flawless. There will be some situations in which you'll be the dedicated cheerer. But with precise timing and wise decisioning, you'll make them fear fighting you, but they'll love having you around. You are the Unorthodox Fist Yumang..

Rags to Riches: Hunter Edition

Hi, welcome back. We are in the 2nd part of the Rags to riches series. Last week, we discussed how to get yuan from simple grinding, now we shall discuss on earning by becoming a hunter.

What do hunters do? Basically, they go from place to place in search of treaseures and other valuable items. Perfect World is no exception, our game has it's own version of treasure hunting. Most PW hunters are found in instance caves. New hunters emerged upon the Dusk Palace and Frost City patch. They kill boss monsters in search of something to sell at a high price.

Treasure hunting is a very good source of income, though it's a bit riskier since you are not assured that you will get the item you wanted. Luck is the name of the game, and treasure hunters usually spend some yuan in order to resume their hunting. Treasure hunters are best in groups, though it is possible to have solo hunter nowadays (Hint: Yao Jing and Dusk Palace).

Ok, what are the best items to hunt? First and foremost, molds. Holy equipments are some of the most expensive items in Perfect World. The best place to start mold hunting is Soulless Gate, where in you might get a mold of Bloody Ghast,(2nd most expensive mold to date, next to Shinzi Padded Armor), Ring of Inner Demon's Power, Sword of Alacrity to name a few. After SG, you may want to try Treasure Grotto. Lin Yun's Ring is the best mold you'll get here, though some of the most commonly used Holy equipments like Captain's Armlet, Sword of Overwhelming Victory, Great Maul of the Black Iron etc are found here too. The latter molds aren't as precious as Lin Yun's Ring but still, they cost a few bucks in the market. You may want to take Heaven and Hell and higher cave instances, but that's to your discretion.

As much as I want to write something about Frost and Dusk caves, I can't give you guides on which boss is best to hunt. I don't have much experience hunting on those caves, but I know that some Dusk items are worth 60m yuan per piece. You can just look at our Dusk Palace item database and check which boss drops the item, then try your luck killing it.
Frost City, on the other hand, still sounds mysterious to me. There are a few jaw dropping equipment available, but no one has any idea on how to obtain them. Try crafting them and it might get an inflated price in the market. Again, try your luck wih that cave.

Hunters should have a very solid party. A basic party should consist of a Yao Shou, Yuling (preferably two) and Yao Jing. The remaining four party slots can have any other classes or you can have a party fewer than 7 if you think you can survive with it. Fewer hunters mean fewer people to share the loot, but also makes hunting a little bit difficult.

There, we finished hunters edition. It's not easy to work as a hunting group. It take teamwork, coordination, trust, and familiarization to each other to become one of the best Cave Hunters in Perfect World.
